Over the lifetime of ownership, it can sufficiently be argued that metal roofing is actually less expensive than asphalt shingles! The average homeowner replaces 4-6 asphalt shingle roofs in their lifetime. With the average cost of an architectural shingle replacement in the United States being $12,890—it means that the average homeowner will spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $51,560-$77,340 in their lifetime on shingle roof replacements!

This is arguably the biggest myth of all. The biggest differences are the chemical makeups of the panels, as well as the thicknesses, and the application methods. There are literally HUNDREDS of configurations, and intangibles associated with a metal roof. Are you being shown a steel panel? Galvalume? Alloy? Is it 33 guage? 29 guage? 26? 24? Are you considering exposed fasteners? If so, what type of metal to wood screws are being utilized to secure the panels? What type of seals exist on the fasteners? What type of underlayment is the “chuck in a truck” going to use—if any? Are fir strips going to be used? If so, why? Standing seam? Tri-lock or Quad lock? Seam machine, or hand crimping? Not true. A monkey could install asphalt shingles. Asphalt shingles is a trade—metal roofing is a CRAFT. Our team is a composition of highly skilled artisans, whose lives have been dedicated to perfecting one thing, and one thing only—metal roofing. Our family has been in the metal roofing business since 1962. We don’t have any questions for anyone, as to how this metal roofing thing works. Unlike our competition, we aren’t sellouts. Literally almost EVERY OTHER roofing company will take your money, for any type of roofing system that you may ask them to install. We will never put our reputation on the line for an asphalt shingle roof. We have never performed ONE shingle job throughout our nearly 60 years of tenure in the home improvement business. Why? Because shingles are actually trash. Literally. They’re a worthless, enviornmentally damaging bi-product of fiberglass, asphalt, and gravel granules, with a plastic nail strip taped along the top. They become brittle, and break. They “bruise” when struck by hail. They curl up and blow away in the presence of wind. They’re a 5-10 year solution, tops.

We get it. We may “appear” to be more expensive, but please keep a few things in mind. First, our company is fully licensed, and insured. Any good ol’ boy can rattle off his or her experience, and say that they are licensed, and insured—but are they really? Our company boasts an impressive $2,000,000 general liability policy underwritten by Burns & Wilcox. We proudly present a copy of our licensing, our credentials, as well as our insurance policy to every customer that we meet, each and every day. Second, we are adequately licensed in the neighboring states that we frequent, and even possess the necessary Consumer Credit Licensing to service those client’s financial needs. Thirdly, Impact Exteriors doesn’t believe in giving “estimates”—we believe in quoting you a PRICE. There is a big difference. The word estimate is a derivative of “estimation”. Meaning, when “Bob the builder” gives you an estimate, there is a very, very strong possibility that you will be approached at some point during the process of installation, to be encouraged to “spend just a little bit more”. This will NEVER happen with Impact Exteriors. When we take on your project. That’s it. If we encounter unforeseen problems that are in need of repair along the way…guess what? We’re not coming back to hit you up for more money. We’re going to address the problem(s), document our findings, and provide you with proof that the necessary repairs were made to your home’s roofing system, on what we refer to as the “congratulations basis”. What we mean by this is—“Congratulations on choosing a company that will make sure that the necessary repairs are made, for the agreed upon price.” Next, consider the cost of hiring schmucks, and having to call us after the fact. You will have incurred the expense of the hack job, next you will pay us to tear off their work, and then you will have to pay again, to have the roof re-installed properly. Do it once, and do it right. Choose us. Lastly—we understand that we’re far from cheap. There’s the old cliche, “You get what you pay for”, but sometimes that statement’s not enough to inspire customers to make the right decision. The objection is sometimes the “commitment” associated with spending the extra to hire Impact Exteriors. Our response to this is simple. The commitment that we are making to you, is far longer, and far more of a commitment than you are making to the cost. More specifically—we issue a LIFETIME warranty on not only the materials, but also on our LABOR. This is very, very, very, very rare. We’re willing to afix our seal on every home that we touch. Some can, yes. Ours can’t, and won’t. The reason is due to a few key differences regarding the chemical makeup of our alloy, as well as the methods associated with Impact’s installation. One, our panels have a proprietary blend of metals, that war against corrosion. Two, our paint is cured through a very intensive fusing process, that ensures that the finish will last, and protect your roof against corrosion, for LIFE. Third, our panels are made to measure. Meaning, we custom measure, and fabricate all panels to the exact, specified length of each particular span, rather than order long panels, and chop on them with grinders or scissors, which will “burr” the edges, and encourage corrosion. Our roofs last FOREVER!

According to a number of published articles, homeowners in various parts of the country experience an R.O.I. (return on investment) from anywhere between 85%, and 95% of the costs incurred to install a metal roof. Our suspicion is that the reason for this is due to the fact that potential homebuyers are excited to purchase a home that has a metal roof, because they won’t need to replace the roof.
